Propylparaben-d4 is the deuterium-labeled version of Propylparaben, an antimicrobial preservative naturally produced by plants and bacteria. It is commonly used in cosmetics, pharmaceuticals, and foods. Propylparaben has been shown to disrupt antral follicle growth and steroidogenic function by altering cell-cycle, apoptosis, and steroidogenesis pathways, and also decreases sperm number and motile activity in rats.
